DarkMic

A virtual microphone system. DarkMic lets you take whatever mic you actually recorded with and re-voice it to sound like a different, often more expensive mic — modeling the frequency response, harmonic character, transformer behavior, and dynamics of a large library of classic studio microphones. You pick the mic you used as the source, pick the mic you want as the target, and DarkMic transforms one into the other, with extra tone-shaping controls on top.

Mic modeling

SOURCE (combobox) — The mic you actually recorded with.

TARGET (combobox) — The mic you want it to sound like.

Both draw from a large library of modeled microphones (40+), including classic large-diaphragm condensers, tube mics, ribbons, and dynamics — e.g. Neumann U 47 / U 67 / U 87 / M 149 / TLM 103 / KM 184, AKG C 12 / C 414 / C 451, Telefunken ELA M 251, Sony C-800G, Royer R-121, Coles 4038, Beyerdynamic M 160, RCA 44-BX, AEA R84, Shure SM7B / SM57 / SM58, Electro-Voice RE20, Sennheiser MD 421, and many more. DarkMic models each mic’s tonal curve, harmonic profile, transformer type, and dynamic behavior so the transformation sounds authentic.

Tone controls

INPUT TRIM (−24…+24 dB) — Input gain into the modeling chain.

RUMBLE (Off / 80 / 120 / 160 Hz) — Steep high-pass rumble filter to remove low-end stage/handling noise.

PROXIMITY (−12…+12 dB) — Low-shelf at ~200 Hz that simulates mic distance — boost for the close-up “proximity effect” body, cut to push the source back.

INTENSITY (0…200%) — How strongly the source→target transformation is applied. 100% = full modeling; lower for a subtler blend, higher to exaggerate the target’s character.

CHARACTER (−100…+100) — Shifts the overall tonal voicing brighter/darker on top of the modeled mic.

BODY (−100…+100) — Adds or reduces low-mid weight/fullness.

HPF (0…500 Hz) — Continuous high-pass for finer low-end cleanup than the stepped Rumble filter.

WIDTH (0…200%) — M/S stereo width. 100% = normal, below narrows, above widens.

MIX (0…100%) — Dry/wet blend of the modeled signal against the original.

PHASE (ø) — Polarity invert.

OUTPUT TRIM (−12…+12 dB) — Output makeup gain.

Very cool ! Enjoying this plugin. Please update this plugin and in the mic models list ( on the right side only ) have an option for NONE. Meaning we can still choose our mic in the plugin on the left side but then on the right side it won’t turn our mic into a model of any other mic at all. That way our mic is ready to be morphed by us into our own creation using plugins and fx.
