DarkQMg

A flagship parametric EQ with a full spectrum analyzer, dynamic and spectral processing, mid/side capability, and analog console saturation voicings — a do-everything surgical-plus-musical EQ. DarkQMg gives you up to 24 fully configurable bands that you place and edit directly on an interactive curve display, each band capable of static EQ, dynamic EQ, or per-frequency spectral dynamics, plus its own analog character.

Working surface

CURVE DISPLAY + ANALYZER — The main interactive screen. Drag bands directly on the curve to set frequency and gain; the real-time spectrum analyzer shows input and output. You add/edit/remove bands on this display.

PRE / POST — Toggle the input (pre) and output (post) spectrum overlays in the analyzer.

ANALYZER settings — Tilt, speed, and pre/post colors for the spectrum display.

Per-band controls (selected band)

FREQ (20 Hz…20 kHz) — Band center/corner frequency.

GAIN (−30…+30 dB) — Band gain/cut.

Q (0.1…30) — Bandwidth/resonance.

TYPE (Bell / Low Shelf / High Shelf / Low Cut / High Cut / Notch / Tilt Shelf) — Band shape.

SLOPE (6 / 12 / 24 / 48 / 96 dB/oct) — Filter steepness for cuts and shelves.

CURVE TYPE (Digital / Butterworth / Linkwitz-Riley) — The filter curve math used for cuts/shelves.

SOLO — Audition just the selected band.

BYPASS (per band) — Disable an individual band.

STEREO MODE (Stereo / Left / Right / Mid / Side) — Each band can act on the full stereo image or just L, R, M, or S — full mid/side EQ.

Analog character (saturation voicings)

DarkQMg can color the EQ with analog console/EQ saturation flavors. There are 16 voicings: Linear (clean), American, American II, Console, Console II, British, British II, Passive, Passive II, Danish, Variable, Air, El Rey, Bronze, Transparent, and Maniac.

SAT MODE — The global saturation/console voicing.

Band Saturation Mode — Each band can follow the global mode or use its own voicing, so different frequency regions can have different analog character.

DRIVE — Global saturation/harmonic drive amount.

BAND DRIVE — Per-band saturation amount, to add harmonic color to a specific frequency region only.

Dynamic + spectral processing

DYN (dynamic EQ) — Turns the selected band into a dynamic EQ band that only acts when the signal crosses a threshold, with its own:

  • RANGE (−30…+30 dB) — Max dynamic gain change.
  • THRESH (−80…0 dB) — Where the dynamic action kicks in.
  • ATTACK (0.1…500 ms) / RELEASE (10…2000 ms) — Dynamic timing.

SPEC (spectral dynamics) — Per-frequency dynamic processing across the band (each frequency moves independently), for transparent resonance/harshness control.

SC Hz (sidechain frequency) — Tunes the band’s detector, and an external sidechain input can drive the dynamics.

M/S BALANCE — Mid/side balance control for the band’s processing.

Global

OUTPUT (−24…+24 dB) — Output gain.

TRANSFORMER (combobox) — Output transformer emulation, 20 models (None + Carnhill, Sowter, Cinemag, Marinair, Haufe V72, Triad HS-30, Reichenbach, EA Edcor, Neve 1272, API 2520, UTC A-20, Peerless S-415, St Ives, Lundahl LL1538, Jensen JT-11, Tamura TKS-27, and more) for added iron/harmonic color.

BYPASS — Global bypass.
